     HNP lies within an arid, cool climate zone. It is characterized by Harsh cold winters and cool summers, hot during the day, very cold at nights, and with frequent windy and stormy days. The weather is generally harsh and variable with sparse rain precipitation.

    The annual temperature mean is 0°C. The lowest temperatures occur in January. The meteorological research of the last 21 years, reveals that the monthly average temperature is -20.3°C, with a lowest cold temperature of -50° C that happened once. The cold days last about 170 to 180 days. The hottest days occur in July. The weekly temperature average was 19.0°C (sometimes reaching up to 42.0°C). Still, according to this study, the annual sunny day’s average was about 2500-2900 hours.

     About the amount of precipitation, the same study found that the yearly mean precipitation was 228 mm. The highest precipitation was recorded at 344.5 mm in 2003. 80% of all precipitations (Peak time of precipitation) happen between May and August. The least precipitation happened in 2007 (112.5 mm).

     The average wind speed was 3.5-4.5 m/sec between March and May; 2.7-3.1 m/sec between June and Oct; 1.2-2.0 m/sec between Nov and Feb. Dust and snow storms happen frequently in spring.
